BBA&#39s Rawlins in MPI role for OFT

The OFT has reshuffled its directors, with British Bankers&#39 Association director Chris Rawlins becoming a director in its markets and policy initiatives (MPI) division.

Rawlins will play a key role in the OFT&#39s working relations with business, including the financial services community, Government and consumer organisations, both at the national and international levels.

He will also be responsible for the watchdog&#39s call centre and lead in preparing the OFT&#39s role in regulating payment systems.

Rawlins will replace Steven Wood, who becomes director of consumer policy and regulation at the OFT.

The division that Rawlins heads will look at markets generally to see if they are working well, which may then lead to consumer or competition enquiries.

He has been a director on the retail team of the BBA for two-and-a-half years where his specific responsibilities have included customer service and complaint handling, e-commerce and financial exclusion.

OFT spokesman Mark Kram says: “MPI reviews of specific markets may lead to competition or consumer enquiries if necessary.”
