B&B and Charcol in loans venture

Bradford & Bingley is gearing up to launch a new sub-brand which will incorporate the mortgage broker services of John Charcol.

The sub-brand will be called The Market Place at Bradford & Bingley.

It will be offered to all customers wanting advice on mortgages, investments and B&B savings accounts. Customers will be offered the full range of Charcol mortgage products as well as B&B&#39s loans. The mortgage part of this package will be labelled Mortgage Services via Charcol.

B&B says it is piloting the service in 40 branches across the North of England and in central London.

The aim is to offer the service nationwide in the new year with the Charcol broking service operating through all 590 B&B branches.

B&B says the Charcol brand will still run independently but its brand will also appear in B&B branches.

B&B head of corporate affairs Chris Holland says: “The final decisions about how all this will work is still in the melting pot but B&B will stay as B&B and John Charcol will continue as John Charcol.

“We are introducing a new sub-brand on to the high street incorporating the mortgage services. We think this is an exciting move for what was quite a traditional building society.”
