Barings appoints Japan equities head

Jonathan Greenhill has joined Barings as head of Japan equities.

Jonathan Greenhill has joined Barings as head of Japan equities.

He is responsible for the group’s Japanese equity research and investment management across stand-alone products and global and international equity portfolios. These include the Japan Growth trust, which has £12.7m under management, and the smaller offshore Japan fund.

Barings recently moved its Japan desk to London, where Greenhill is based. He reports to Tim Scholefield, the head of equities.

Greenhill joins from Occam Asset Management, where he managed a hedge fund. He left the group after a year when redemptions forced Occam to wind up its Japanese product range.

Greenhill was formerly senior vice president at Lazard, and has also held a role at Royal and Sun Alliance.
