Barclays scotches takeover rumours

Barclays have sent out a clear signal it is not in merger talks, according to the Financial Times.


New chief executive Matthew Barrett has just bought £456,000 worth of shares in the bank. He would not have been allowed to snap up the shares if a takeover bid was imminent.
