Barclays has appointed former FSA non-executive director Stephen Thieke to its board with immediate effect.
Thieke has spent 40 years working in financial services, across regulation and investment banking, including 20 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
He has also spent 10 years at JP Morgan where his roles included head of fixed income, co-head of global markets, president and chairman of JP Morgan Securities, and head of the corporate risk management group, before retiring from JP Morgan in 1999.
Thieke’s board experience includes seven years as a director at Risk Metrics Group, where he also served as chairman, and nine years on the board at PNC Financial Services Corporation.
Barclays group chairman Sir David Walker says: “I am pleased to announce Stephen’s appointment to the Barclays boards. His many years of experience in banking regulation, investment banking and risk management will be a great asset to Barclays.”
