Barclays appoints new COO

Barclays Wealth has appointed Alexis Xenophontos as the chief operating officer of its investment & product office.

Xenophontos joins Barclays Wealth from the investment solutions division of UBS Global Wealth Management & Business Banking.

He will commence the new role on February 1 2007 and will report to the firm’s chief investment officer and head of I&PO Kevin Lecocq.

Xenophontos will have direct responsibility for general management, strategic implementation and a range of support functions.

Lecocq says: “A strong track record in product office restructuring and process re-engineering coupled with a deep understanding of the wider financial services sector make Alexis the perfect choice to fill the COO role. He will be a key driving force in realising the exciting ambitions we have for the Investment & Product Office and for Barclays Wealth.”
