Bankhall moves into investment management

Bankhall has recruited former Foreign & Colonial head of IFA operations Jamie Farquhar to set up an investment management facility.

Farquhar joins Bankhall after 16 years with F&C to head new arm Bankhall Investment Solutions.

He says one of his first moves will be to improve online asset allocation and management tools as well as research and analysis facilities through portal IFA Engine.

The group, which has 5,000 members, has allocated £10m to improve overall service from the portal over the next 12 months.

The investment management arm is part of a suite of new services which include a paraplanning bureau, a new mortgage adviser network and an acquisitions consultancy service.

Farquhar says: “Bank-hall has been strong on the pensions, mortgages, protection and general insurance side but investment management has languished. The group wants to bring the investment side up to speed.”
