Bank of Scotland slashes base rate for Irish subsidiary


Bank of Scotland&#39s new direct Irish mortgage arm has slashed its standard variable rate by 30 basis points.


The bank now has a SVR of 3.69 per cent.


The lender has also made a price promise the rate will not be more than 1.5 per cent above the Euroland base rate, currently 2.5 per cent.


The direct operation based in Edinburgh was set up last month to challenge lenders in the Republic of Ireland.
