Bamford takes top role at Sofa

Sofa has elected Informed Choice managing director Nick Bamford as its new chairman at last week&#39s Update Conference in Birmingham.

Bamford replaces Kingsbridge Financial director John Porteous, who steps down after two years in the post and a total of four years on the board.

Phil Billingham of Phil Billingham Associates was re-elected as vice-chairman and will be joined in the role by Park Row head of communications Jo Smith.

Five new directors were voted on to the board. They are Jason Butler of Bloomsbury Financial Planning, Gill Cardy of Professional Partnerships, Carole Nicholls of Nicholls Stevens, Robert Reid of Syndaxi Financial Planning and Brian Steeples of Inter-Alliance and.

They replace Richard Anderson of Scottish Widows, Gary Jeffries of Warwick-Leigh Financial Advisers, Keren Milton of Marsh Financial Services and Tudor Taylor of Wentworth Rose, who all step down from the board along with Porteous.

Bamford says: “I am delighted to take on the responsibility of being chairman of the leading professional body for advisers in the UK. The future looks very bright indeed for well qualified and well educated financial advisers who can deliver quality advice and service to the public.”
