Baillie Gifford & Co. appoints new manager and director to trust

Baillie Gifford & Co. has announced the appointment of Mike Gush to co-manage the Pacific Horizon investment trust.

Gush will co-manage the trust alongside Gerald Smith, with the latter to be invited by the board of Pacific Horizon to become director of the company from February 1, 2009.

Gush will then replace Smith, who has managed the trust since 1995, with the interim period in place to ensure a smooth transition.

Gush joined Baillie Gifford in 2003 and has worked with Smith since joining the emerging markets team in 2005.
