Baillie Gifford appoints high yield bond fund manager

Baillie Gifford has appointed Ben Thompson as co-fund manager of its high yield bond fund.

Thompson previously worked in the US and European equity departments of Baillie Gifford and will manage the portfolio alongside current fund manager Ken Barker.

The double ‘A’ rated fund has five stars from Standard & Poor’s and ranks in the top decile of the UK Other Bonds sector over six months, one year and three years to 31 July 2006.

Barker has managed the fund since launch on November 30 2001.

Barker says: “I will still be actively involved in the management of the fund, as is the case for our Corporate Bond Fund, where the joint manager approach has worked well.”
