Aviva UK life and pensions chief executive Toby Strauss (pictured) is leaving the firm to join Lloyds Banking Group.

David Barral, previously UK life chief operating officer, has been appointed UK life chief executive and will report to Aviva UK chief executive Mark Hodges.

Barral’s previous responsibilities will be divided between newly appointed propositions director Phil Wilcock, who also continues in his role as UK Health managing director, and customer experience director Hugh Hessing.

Hodges says: “Toby has led a strong team in the UK Life business, making a valuable contribution to Aviva, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
