Aviva head of UK insurance Andy Briggs has stepped down from the role, the company has announced.
He leaves the position today, and will stay with Aviva until October “to support an orderly transition”.
The departure comes after Maurice Tulloch was recently appointed chief executive of the overall Aviva group.
Briggs joined Aviva in 2015, and is well-known for his roles as chairman of the Association of British Insurers and as the government’s older workers’ tsar.
Aviva’s group chief risk officer Angela Darlington will take over Briggs’ position on an interim basis.
Tulloch says: “Andy Briggs will be missed. Andy is a brilliant leader and good friend. Aviva has benefited enormously from his extensive industry experience and his integrity and we wish him well for the future. I look forward to working with him during the transitionary period.”
