Aviva sells offshore operations for £115m

Aviva has sold its offshore operations to outsourcing firm WNS for £115m.

As part of the deal to sell-off these operations, known as Aviva Global Services, WNS has entered an eight-year contract to provide offshore services to Aviva’s UK, Irish and Canadian businesses.

Aviva, the parent company of Norwich Union, says this means it can release the value from these operations while still benefiting from the expertise that it has built up and protecting itself from increases in inflation or negative changes in exchange rates.

Aviva Global Services chair and chief operating officer at Norwich Union Life Cathryn Riley says: “We’re proud of the significant offshoring capability that we’ve built over the past five years and we remain firmly committed to offshoring.

“After an extensive review, we’ve chosen one of our current suppliers to be our long-term partner, allowing us to build on the strength of our existing relationship to increase the flexibility and cost-certainty within our operation.”
