Aviva Investors head of strategic alliances to depart in sales restructure

Aviva sign 480

Aviva Investors head of strategic alliances Malcolm Mackenzie is to leave the firm along with another sales manager in a restructure of the sales team.

Mackenzie has been in his role at Aviva Investors for nearly six years. He joined the firm in January 2007.

Investment sales manager Nick Hendy is also set to leave the business.

A spokeswoman for Aviva Investors says: “In line with many of our competitors, we have recently reviewed our distribution structure in our UK financial institutions business and as a result, Mackenzie and Hendy are due to leave Aviva Investors.”

She adds: “This is not a direct result of Aviva Investors’ business review as announced at the beginning of the year, which was more in relation to a renewed focus on institutional clients by Aviva Investors as a whole – although we said at the time that we will retain our financial institutions business in the UK.”

In January, Aviva Investors announced it was to cut 160 jobs worldwide in a bid to reduce its presence in the retail space, with its London-based European, emerging markets, global and SRI equity desks closing.

The firm is still active in the fixed income, real estate and multi-asset sectors.

In February, it was revealed that Aviva Investors’ sustainable and responsible investment team and £1.1 billion fund range are set to be sold off as part of the firm’s move to reduce its retail presence. Alliance Trust entered into an investment advisory agreement for Aviva Investors’ £1.2bn sustainable and responsible investment range in August.

In March, it was also revealed that chief executive of the UK funds business John Clougherty left the firm followed soon after by global head of products at Aviva Investors Jeremy Soutter.
