Aviva appoints Rexam CEO to board

Aviva has appointed Rexam chief executive Leslie Van de Walle as an independent non-executive director.

Van de Walle is also a non-executive director of Aegis Group but he will retire from the position this month following six years’ on the board.

Aviva says Van de Walle has extensive marketing and brand experience, particularly in the consumer goods sector.

Chairman Lord Sharman of Redlynch says: “I am delighted to welcome Leslie to Aviva. He brings an international outlook, strong analytical ability and an excellent track record of delivering improved performance. I am confident Leslie will make a valuable contribution to Aviva at what is a very exciting time in its development.”

Nationwide has appointed Andy McQueen as divisional director for mortgages and savings. McQueen, who replaces Matthew Carter, was previously divisional director of specialist lending, covering both The Mortgage Works and the building society’s former intermediary arm UCB Home Loans. He will be responsible for the creation and marketing of all mortgage and savings products.
