Autif names new director general

Autif is appointing Richard Saunders as director general, replacing Philip Warland. Saunders will take up the post on May 1.

Current director of legal and fiscal affairs Sheila Nicoll is promoted to the new post of deputy director general. Nicoll will also be acting director general until Saunders takes up the post.

Saunders has been recruited from outside the investment industry. He has spent most of his career in the civil service, most notably as press secretary to Lord Lamont when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Saunders succeeds Philip Warland, who leaves after 10 years to take up a post as a senior consultant at PriceWaterhouseCooper.
