Assureweb launches protection iPhone app

Assureweb has launched a free iPhone app to allow advisers to compare real-time rates for term assurance products.

The app, which was created by Sydney-based technology firm Omnium, sources protection quotes from Aegon, Aviva, Bright Grey, Friends Life, Legal & General, LV=, Pru Protect, Scottish Provident and Zurich.

It allows advisers to quote for level term assurance, decreasing term assurance or family income benefit and can quote for single or joint life policies.

Assureweb will also create bespoke apps for customers who wish to add their own brand and logo.

Assureweb sales and marketing director Mark Wilson says: “Our aim was to make mobile technology accessible to financial advice firms across the UK. Assureweb for iPhone allows advisers to make the most out of business opportunities while on the move. We are talking to some of the UK’s largest advice firms and look forward to announcing the launch of our first customised App in the near future.”

Finance and Technology Research Centre director Ian McKenna says: “I think this is the next big leap forward. In the 1980s we had comparative quotations and that transformed the protection market. Putting this sort of thing on mobiles now really does give people to have the technology wherever they want it.”

Jennifer Gilchrist Proposition Lead – Design, Royal London When someone mentions whole of life plans, most people will think of a niche product that serves as an inheritance tax planning tool for high-net-worth clients. 1. This is obviously a good development. What would really help is the quote portals better reflecting the differences between the different protection products out there, rather than focusing on the difference in price. Cheapest isn’t best and the differences are growing day by day …. AVIVA thin PruProtect amazing!

  2. thats a cool article i actually got a free iphone and didnt even enter credit card information! check it out

  3. I could not agree more with Bob.

The differences are amazing. Just look at the latest Friends Life offering, a real quality product

  4. Do we think the above may be consultants or Fa’s who haven’t inspected the detail….we know what they say 😉
