Ashcourt Rowan has appointed National Australia Group regional director Steven Midgley as business director of its financial planning arm.
Midgley will take up the newly created role on 24 June. He will join the board of Ashcroft Rowan Financial Planning and report to group chief executive office Jonathan Polin.
At NAG Midgley led the IFA and wealth management businesses across the UK. Previously he held various roles at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank, including head of financial planning.
Earlier this month, Polin said he is on a drive to recruit “people of the very best calibre” after employee numbers dropped from 395 when he took over in 2011 to 260.
Polin says: “Steven has a huge amount of experience and expertise in the financial planning industry, which will be invaluable as we look to develop this part of the business.
“This is the latest in a series of senior hires for the company, which includes the appointment of David Palmer as the business director for our asset management business, and ensures we are well-positioned to capitalise on the growth opportunities that come our way.”
Midgley says: “The wake of the RDR has presented a huge opportunity for wealth managers such as Ashcourt Rowan to thrive. I am very impressed with the proposition that Jonathan has created and I am very excited to be part of the team.”
Recent appointments at Ashcourt Rowan include ex-Towry director Gaius Jones as chief executive of financial planning and Harry Burnham, formerly at Brewin Dolphin, who has joined the board of Ashcourt Rowan Asset Management.
