Ashby moves to Credit Suisse

Equity income manager Graham Ashby joined Credit Suisse this week as managing director and head of UK retail equities from Sarasin Chiswell.

Credit Suisse head of UK institutional equities Phil True had been overseeing the management of the company’s retail UK income fund range, but Ashby’s appointment will see True now focus on the institutional side.

A deal struck between Credit Suisse and Sarasin Chiswell means that Ashby continues to run Sarasin’s UK equity income fund.

Two other members of Ashby’s team at Sarasin, Michael Crawford and Marcus Chandler, will join the Credit Suisse UK and global equity income team as portfolio managers next month. They previously worked with Ashby at DWS Investments during a four-year tenure managing the firm’s flagship income fund.

Credit Suisse head of equities for asset management Kim Goodwin says: “”We’re delighted Graham has joined as UK Head of Retail Equities and portfolio manager for our UK Equity Income team this week.

“This appointment demonstrates our continued commitment to the UK market and we believe that Graham will be an excellent addition to the team, being a manager of such high calibre and with 19 years experience in fund management. In the past six months Credit Suisse has recruited 14 equity portfolio managers for asset management globally and we plan to continue to grow the UK business.”
