Artemis fund manager Peter Saacke is to replace chief investment officer Ruth Keattch, who is retiring from the firm.

Keattch will retire from the fund management industry in the first quarter of 2016.

The industry veteran, who previously worked at Deutsche Asset Management as well as Troy Asset Management, took the CIO role in 2013. She joined Artemis in 2008 to co-manage the £1.1bn UK Special Situations fund with Derek Stuart.

In addition to his new CIO role Saacke will also chair the firm’s investment committee. He has been with Artemis since 2002, leading the £466m Global Growth fund and co-managing the recently-launched Global Emerging Markets Oeic.

The move follows Artemis co-founder Mark Tyndall’s decision to take a non-executive role at the firm after stepping aside as senior partner last April.

He remains a partner at the investment manager and retains “a substantial stake” in both the partnership and the funds that Artemis manages, the firm says.
