Artemis Investment Management has appointed Richard Pursglove as head of retail.
Pursglove is currently Goldman Sachs head of third party distribution, a role he took up in October 2011. He joined Goldman Sachs from Gartmore, where he was head of UK retail. He left Gartmore when it was acquired by Henderson Global Investors in April 2011 in a £335m deal.
Pursglove will join Artemis in September and will report to head of asset gathering Dick Turpin.
He will be responsible for the future development and delivery of Artemis’ retail distribution strategy.
Turpin says: “Richard will bring enormous experience, character, drive and determination, along with an energy and distinctive charm that are well recognised in our industry.”
Bestinvest business development and communications managing director Jason Hollands says: “Richard is a great hire for Artemis in my view. He brings a wealth of experience, has strong client relationships and is popular with his peer group.”
Charles Stanley Direct head of investment research Ben Yearsley says: “This is a good appointment for Artemis. Pursglove knows the sector and the market well.”
Philippa Gee Wealth Management managing director Philippa Gee expects to see more senior moves across the industry. She says: “There are such changing dynamics and investment groups need to reposition themselves for the future.
“I am sure this will be a positive move for all concerned. Just from Pursglove’s pedigree, it is an interesting hire.”
