Anger as annuities left unchanged

The campaign for reform of the rules surrounding the compulsory purchase of annuities suffered a major setback today when Chancellor Gordon Brown ignored the subject entirely in his budget speech.

Wentworth Rose director Philip Rose says: “I am disappointed there was not the slightest mention of annuity reform, not even a raising of the age for income drawdown. The case for change has not yet been fully made. We must keep the campaign going.”
