Diary editor Sam Shaw has requested that I, the summer intern (Aka “The American Bird”, for those of you who have seen MMTV), contribute to the Diary pages for my final day at Money Marketing.
Writing about pensions, industry innovations, the RDR and hell, even bonds, has been a refreshing change from the hodgepodge I covered in the States. IFAs are wonderful sources who I have found to be quite candid on occasion.
Outings with various firms and PR folk were much enjoyed. My second day at Money Marketing ended at the AIC summer drinks party, which between the abundant Champagne and seeing AIC’s equivalent of Charlie’s Angel’s – Jemma, Victoria and Annabel – and the MM ladies getting down on the dancefloor, convinced me that the financial sector is where it’s at.
Number of fabulous raspberry ice cream concoctions consumed: 1 (good call, HBOS’s David Gwyer). Number of UK accents I can now distinguish (and comprehend): 5, including John Lappin’s Irish brogue, which tends to thicken as deadline approaches.
