AMII to debate claims transparency

The Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries is to hold its first Transparency of Claims discussion panel next month.

The panel, set up after AMII approached UK private medical insurers and the British Insurance Brokers Association about transparency of claims information in PMI, will meet on January 21.

Bank House Communications director Andy Couchman has been recruited as independent chairperson, AMII chairman Mike Izzard will represent specialist healthcare intermediaries and IFAs and BIBA head of technical services Peter Staddon will represent general insurance brokers.

Confirmed insurers include Standard Life, Groupama and Cigna.

AMII chairman Mike Izzard: “We are delighted to have such an encouraging response from the industry to this discussion of such an important industry topic. The only way to improve the flow of information is for all the relevant parties to get together, including the underwriting community and we hope this panel will go a considerable way in achieving that.

“We have all agreed to sit together and explore viable and practical solutions. The results of the discussion and ongoing meets will be announced in due course.”
