The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries board has appointed Sesame Bankhall Group managing director of mortgages John Cupis as the deputy chairman.
London & Country operations and compliance director Patrick Bunton was promoted from deputy chairman to chairman in November as part of wide-sweeping changes to Ami’s structure which saw former chairman Lord Deben take on a new role as president.
AMI chairman Patrick Bunton says: “With the challenges facing our industry in delivering a more sustainable housing market, and ensuring that the regulatory changes deliver the expected better consumer outcomes, brokers need a strong trade body. I am therefore delighted that John Cupis has accepted the role of deputy, to assist myself and the team in ensuring our voice is heard, listened to and acted upon.
“From his position in Sesame Bankhall Group he is able to understand the issues facing our largest firms and those of the one man broker. I look forward to working even more closely with John in the coming years to deliver even better outcomes for intermediaries and the industry as a whole.”
Cupis says: “Ami has a very important role in ensuring that we have a robust and competitive mortgage market in the UK. In taking up this position, I am determined to continue to work on behalf of the wider industry and all our members to ensure that politicians and regulators are alive to the real issues facing consumers and our profession.”
