AITC guide to the secret world of investment trusts

The Association of Investment Trust Companies has designed a new marketing guide to help IFAs make the most of investment trust opportunities.

The free guide, The City&#39s Best Kept Secret, is aimed at IFAs unfamiliar with investment trusts.

The AITC says the guide will assist advisers looking to capitalise on opportunities in a climate where demand for low cost, value for money, investment is high.

It covers a number of areas to alert IFAs to issues that they should consider when advising clients in this market.

The guide explains how investment trusts can be used within an investment portfolio, their benefits and the different types available. It says IFAs should help clients choose from the 200 investment trusts on the market by considering how long they want to invest and what level of risk they want to take.

It provides hints and tips on investment trust marketing opportunities such as how to develop a direct mail campaign.

For marketing support IFAs are referred to the AITC&#39s new extranet website at which it says is a one-stop information point on investment trusts.

The guide also explains the benefits to IFAs of using Transact, the integrated portfolio service combining a centralised dealing and administration service for a range of assets and investment wrappers.

AITC communications director Annabel Brodie Smith says: “This colour-ful, easy to follow guide is a valuable tool for IFAs unfamiliar with investment trusts.”
