Aegon to sponsor Dutch footie giants Ajax

Aegon has unveiled a sponsorship deal with Dutch football team Ajax starting from next season.

Under the agreement, Aegon will pay Ajax between EUR10m-12m a year dependent on performance and the insurer’s logo will be emblazoned on the team’s strip.

Aegon board member Johan van der Werf says he sees similarities between the insurer and the team, in that they are both Amsterdam-based but recognised more widely.

He says: “Aegon and Ajax have strong ambitions and share a similar outlook. We both want to be the best at what we do.”

The sponsorship deal is expected to run for seven years.
