Aegon Asset Management director of fund sales and marketing Jon Bennett says multi-asset is an area the group plans to develop, given its institutional experience. He says: “We already have a number of strong multi-asset products in the institutional space and we want to look at how we can bring that into the retail market.”
Bennett says the fund would invest across several asset classes and would probably be positioned in the cautious sector.
Aegon is also considering launches in both UK equity income and UK long/short, with the latter currently being run as a dummy portfolio.
Bennett says: “We have been working on our strategy across equities, fixed income, property, multi-asset and investment solutions. A number of ideas have been brought forward but not all will come to fruition.”
Chelsea Financial Services managing director Darius McDermott says: “Multi-asset funds have worked but it is important that groups have the capability to run them and are not following the crowd.”
