Aegon Asset Management director of retail fund sales and marketing Jon Bennett says the firm is looking to build on its UK range and these areas are gaps in the range.
He says: “UK equity income is a huge area and now is one of the best times to invest. We are not committing to any launch as we are just in the process of setting up a dummy portfolio. We are taking different things into account such as potentially involving the fixed-income team to generate high yields. Question marks over the sector have raised awareness of the importance of yield.”
Bennett says the process is more advanced on the UK long/short side where the group now has a dummy portfolio but again no launch is confirmed.
He says: “The market has changed so much in the past year or so and we are looking at something that is as transparent as possible for investors. We would prefer something under the Ucits’ umbrella and not a fully hedged structure.”
