Absolutely fabulous training opportunity

A new company offering online training to help IFAs prepare for regulatory exams is launching this week.

Absolutely Training offers online courses for Financial Planning Certificate exams, Continuing Professional Development training courses and Cemap exams.

Assistance for FPC one goes live next week while levels two and three will be available later in the year. For year-long access to each level the fee is £140.

CPD training courses are available in three blocks, on financial planning, estate planning and trusts. Each of these costs £100 for a year. Cemap training also costs £100 for each of the three levels in that course.

Employers or networks will have the option to create bespoke training courses for their staff through the service.

Absolutely Training includes interactive lessons, on-line exercises, full practice testing, live tutorials, feedback and a 24-hour telephone helpline for assistance.

The company has been founded by managing director Paul Fegan, business development director Lisa Clement, course development manager Shaun Walsh and IT director Carl Crisostono (all pictured left. All have a background in education and finance.

The funding comes from private investors following a share issue at the end of 2000.

Absolutely Training business development director Lisa Clement says: “What we&#39re trying to do is to educate the IFAs and also organisations that employ IFAs.”

Institute of Financial Planning director of training and education Jackie Elliott says: “Anything that is made available in an easily accessible form is a good idea. The vast majorities of IFAs are online and are becoming increasingly financially literate so an idea such as this could provide assistance.”

Mortgage clients confused by late reasons-why letters

IFAs often provide mortgage borrowers with reasons-why letters which fail to match the advice they gave, according to the Mortgage Code Compliance Board. The regulator says borrowers are frequently left confused by letters from IFAs. It is also concerned about the pace at which reasons-why letters are dispatched, with IFAs regularly waiting until the mortgage […]

Compulsory purchase

The Government&#39s flagship pension project has finally been launched after a lengthy and controversial development process. The introduction of price capping amounts to arguably the biggest intervention in the free market of this Government&#39s administration and the price-capping features will doubtless be noted by other professions across the economy. The launch comes just as IFAs […]

2016 Global Survey of Individual Investors: How is investor behaviour rewriting the job description for financial professionals?

Trapped between expectations for near double-digit returns and strong apprehensions about investing in persistently volatile markets, investors worldwide are of the opinion that professional financial advice is worth the fee. But even though they believe individuals who work with a financial professional are more likely to achieve their goals, investors have a clear vision of […]
