A contrast in illustrations

I have every sympathy with your correspondent Anthony Harper who mentioned the contrast between the Standard Life illustration and J Rothschild Assurance.

I have recently had reason to compare a pension transfer illustration from Rothschild which showed that a critical yield of 11.15 per cent was needed to match the scheme benefits.

Choosing Clerical Medical on the same commission scale gave a figure of 9.3 per cent. On examining the fund at various growth rates, it was vastly better with Clerical Medical.

Clearly, Rothschild&#39s policies are expensive, quite apart from the performance aspect.
