80% of people who are HIV+ unaware they can get life assurance

Around 80 per cent of people who are HIV positive are unaware they can buy life assurance, according to research from medical financial advice firm Unusual Risks Mortgage and Insurance Services.

Unusual Risks marketing manager Chris Morgan says: “We have to remember that people living with HIV have been told by the insurance industry that they cannot have life assurance for nearly two decades. It is understandable that people may feel cautious towards the new HIV Life Assurance products as they are still a relatively new idea.”
