7IM poaches from Coutts for new chief strategist

pension tax planning7IM has poached Coutts Investments’ former head of investment strategy Terence Moll to join its investment management team.

He will join the platform and discretionary manager as chief strategist.

Moll’s former roles span the investment and pension space. He was formerly head of multi-asset allocation for the Universities Superannuation Scheme, as well as holding roles in quantitative research and strategy at Investec.

7IM chief executive Tom Sheridan says Moll’s experience in multi-asset investing, strategy and quant research in particularly suited him for the role.

Moll says: “7IM has a disciplined, team approach to running money, with multi-asset investing at its core and given my background in this area, it feels like coming home. The owner manager culture, focused purely on investment management, has a strong appeal, as does the breadth and depth of funds and products available.”

7IM is currently looking to expansion not just in its traditional investment sphere, for example through the recent purchase of Edinburgh-based Tcam Asset Management, but also in the retirement arena after the launch of a Sipp on its platform in May.
