3i offers technology trust with access to IPO shares

Venture capital operation 3i&#39s asset management arm is launching a

European technology investment trust with preferential access to technology

IPOs.

The trust will invest in quoted companies principally based in Europe with

a significant focus on technology-oriented activities, excluding life

science companies.

It aims to raise £20m through private offerings and a further £380m from

institutions.

The trust has the opportunity to acquire shares in companies where 3i, or

funds under 3i management, are pro-posing to sell shares through flotation.

Director of fund management Peter Waller says: “This is an excellent

opportunity to leverage 3i&#39s skills in the technology field in Europe. It

creates an opportunity to access listed technology companies at flotation

and other listed technology companies in areas where 3i has expertise.”
