&#39UK public worry constantly about their finances&#39

People in the UK are stres-sed by money, according to a survey by Halifax.

The Wealth of Nation survey by its Share Dealing service found that out of the 2,000 people questioned, almost a quarter said they think about money constantly.

The survey found 23 per cent of women and 22 per cent of men always have money on their minds.

It also showed that young people are the biggest worriers, with 28 per cent of respondents aged between 16 and 24 saying they constantly think about cash compared with 19 per cent of those over 55.

Halifax Share Dealing says this finding supports the Government&#39s new baby bond initiative to encourage young people to get on the savings ladder.

The survey found Welsh people were the most obs-essed by money in Britain, with 29 per cent expressing their concern compared with 19 per cent of Scottish people.

At work, 15 per cent of men say they think about their finances compared with 7 per cent of women. However, in bed, 10 per cent of women worry about money compared with 7 per cent of men.

Halifax Share Dealing managing director Sue Concannon says: “With almost one in four people, money is becoming an obsession.”
