1st - The Exchange raises software fees

1st - The Exchange is increasing user and site licence fees for its Adviser Office software by 3.5 per cent from January 1, 2010.

It has written to firms outlining the benefits of the new version of the client management system and advising them of the fee increase. The price rise is a result of its decision to include online training (normally priced at £10 per user a month) in the licence fee.

Three Counties director Mark West is one of the companies that will be affected by the fee increase. He says: “It was expensive enough. Once everybody can operate the system, we do not have a massive change-over of staff so there is no training required.”

1st stresses that, where possible, it has tried to minimise licence price increases and has not increased the site licence cost since before 2003.

Over the past year, the firm says it has actively sought feedback and suggestions for improvement from users through roadshows, emails and forums. It says over 100 enhancements and upgrades have been included in the latest version of the software.

A spokeswoman says: “This is the lowest price increase for over three years, reflecting our desire to keep costs down despite our ongoing investment to launch many new services and increased functionality.”
