NSA can deliver work-based assessments

The National Skills Academy says it is gearing up to deliver work-based assessments for advisers as an alternative to RDR exams as pressure grows on the FSA to allow this method of assessment.
NSA says if the FSA allows work-based assessments under the RDR rules, training provider Standards International could deliver a two-day programme.
NSA chief executive Sylvia Perrins says the package would consist of a one-day training and gap analysis workshop and a one-day onsite assessment of documentation and knowledge. She estimates that the package would cost £1,375 per adviser but said there may be subsidies available.
Aifa policy director Andrew Strange says: “We have campaigned hard for alternative assessments that are not oral exams and welcome both existing exam providers or new entrants in the market who want to offer work-based assessments.”
