FOS appoints new ops director from NHS
The Financial Ombudsman Service has appointed Simon Rouse to the role of operations director.
Rouse will join FOS in August from NHS Hertfordhsire, where he is director of strategic planning. Prior to this role, he was Barclays head of strategy and performance management and also regional director for UK retail banking. Rouse will replace outgoing operations director Roy Hewlett.
The operations director will report directly to FOS chief executive Natalie Ceeney. He will have responsibility for ensuring the ombudsman service handles its caseload as well as monitoring customer service.
Ceeney says: “The role of operations director is pivotal, as we plan ahead for our next decade, to ensure the ombudsman service is fit for the future.
“Simon is the ideal operations director to take forward these challenges. His current experience of strategic planning in the public sector - combined with his background in financial services - means he comes with a unique understanding of the issues we face.”

"Ideal"
What the FOS needs to do first is abide by the law, that would reduce the number of claims.
Passing the one millionth headstone, sorry milestine isn't something to brag about, all it does is raise questions about why the claims are hitting their desks in the first place.

Having submitted a claim to the FOS on 8th Aug 2008, and received an ombudsman's decision on 8th July 2010, based on the grounds of probability, I am surprised this quango still exists. Customer care, attention to detail and due diligence are alien to them. Being self opinionated and not basing any of their comments on facts they are a total shambles.

Authorisation via a non-UK regulator means no FOS and no FSCS! What are you all waiting for (unless you're a member of a network)?
