KPMG appoints ex-FSA HR manager to RDR practice
KPMG has appointed ex-FSA project manager David Dickinson as head of people strategy for the firm’s RDR practice.
Dickinson was project manager for organisational development in human resources at the FSA and previously worked with Deutsche Bank and AXA.
KPMG RDR practice partner and head Fiona Fry says: “Attaining, training and maintaining the competency of staff is a major tenet of the RDR. We are pleased to welcome David to our team as his extensive people and organisational development experience will be invaluable, particularly for our IFA and banking clients.”
Dickinson adds: “In addition to the learning and development requirements for both full and simplified advice outlined in the RDR, firms are also facing a rewrite of the FSA’s training and competency rules and the introduction of a code of ethics. The regulator has made it clear they are focusing on outcomes and sales outcomes are no exception.
“While ensuring staff are trained to sufficient qualification levels, firms must also focus on maintaining staff competency. This requires a consideration of recruitment, induction, training and retention policies and procedures and, vitally, a cultural change in approach and attitude. People strategy is so much more essential than a ‘tick and comply’ exercise and I am looking forward to working with our clients to make sure they get it right.”
