FSSC appoints two new board members

The Financial Services Skills Council has appointed Legal & General operations director of protection Adrian Clark and Santander human resources business partner Bernadette Brown to the board of directors.

Clark has 30 years experience in financial services and has spent the past decade developing L&G’s presence in South Wales, which now employs approximately 2000 staff. Recently he became board member of The Centre for Excellence for Leadership and Management Skills in Wales.

Brown recently become involved with the Financial Services Future Skills Action Group, formed to address specific skills needs in the Northern Ireland financial services sector.

In September the Council made its submission for re-licensing to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills.

The Council says it expects to hear a decision in early January next year.

FSSC chairman Roy Leighton says: “I am delighted to welcome Bernadette and Adrian to the FSSC and am confident they will make hugely positive contributions to skills development in our sector.

“We are progressing with our new strategic approach born out of thorough industry consultation and it’s very encouraging to have such influential organisations lending support to our efforts.”
