Ex-Burns Anderson IFA remanded in custody
Former Burns Anderson adviser Grahame Whitehead has been remanded in custody until he appears at Chelmsford Crown Court on April 9 charged with 50 counts of obtaining money through deception and fraud.
Whitehead’s case was heard at Chelmsford Crown Court today when prosecutor Anthony Abel applied for an extension of Whitehead’s custody time, which is due to expire this month.
The two-counsel hearing agreed that Whitehead will now remain in custody until after the April 9 hearing.
Defence David Bentley says a sentence will be reached at the day-long hearing in April.
Abel described the case as “a very substantial matter with a large number of counts.”
Whitehead is accused of fraud involving over £8m.
