Duo charged with £61m fraud

Two men have been charged with fraud against Allied Irish Banks totalling £56m and Bank of Scotland totalling £5m.
Achilleas Kallakis, formerly known as Stefanos Kollakis, and Alexander Williams, formerly known as Martin Lewis, have each been charged with two counts of conspiracy to defraud, 13 counts of forgery and five counts of fraud by false representation.
The duo have also been charged with two counts of money laundering and one count of obtaining a money transfer by deception.
The offences charged in relation to Allied Irish Banks relate to property loans made between 2003 and 2007 resulting in losses of £56m. The offences in relation to Bank of Scotland relate to a shipping loan made in 2008 resulting in losses of around £5m.
Kallakis and Kollakis will appear at Southwark Crown Court on May 4. They have both been remanded on conditional bail.
