Andrew Tyrie warns on rushed regulations
Andrew Tyrie, the new chairman of the Treasury select committee, has warned the Government may be in danger of making policy decisions “on the hoof”.

Tyrie, the Conservative MP for Chichester (pictured), took over as chair of the committee from former Labour MP John McFall following the election.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Tyrie says he will take a close interest in the Government’s plans to dismantle the FSA and pass many of its responsibilities to the Bank of England.
He says: “It may turn out to be legitimate to make the point that some of this policy appears to be being made on the hoof.
“I want to make sure it is not made on the hoof and it is thought through very carefully.
“I would rather they get it right than be rushed.”
Yesterday, the Treasury select committee revealed that it will not be able to scrutinise the emergency Budget, because the other members of the committee apart from Tyrie have yet to be selected.

Andrew Tyrie rules OK, it makes a refreshing change to see someone who knows what he is talking about being elected as Chair after all those years of Gordon's buddy leading the bear baiting sessions, sometimes sans teeth. But that was politics for you.
