ABI director Peter Vipond to join FSA

The FSA has appointed Association of British Insurers director Peter Vipond as head of department within the regulator’s insurance division.
Vipond (pictured) will head up the newly created insurance sector and prudential support department at the FSA and is due to start in the role early next year.
Vipond previously held the role of director of financial regulation and taxation at the ABI. Prior to that he was a director in the wholesale markets team at the British Bankers Association.
The department will be responsible for insurance sector oversight, and managing risk across the insurance division through work with risk and accounting teams and other FSA specialists.
It will also be looking at issues such as developing and implementing policy changes such as recovery and resolution, policyholder protection, and working with the prudential policy team.
It will also provide senior representation on international insurance committees.

What a surprise! Another 'job for the boys' in the revolving door that is FSA, banking & insurance.

So that is what AIFA is for.
Sorry being cynical but can't see where all these regulations are leading to except loss of choice and freedom and increased costs for all.
