Zurich to cut 243 jobs
Zurich is to cut 243 jobs as part of a restructure of its general insurance business.
Most of the affected roles will be from Zurich’s Cardiff office, as it consolidates the Cardiff property claims team with its other property claims team in Whiteley in Hampshire.
The other affected departments are customer services, finance and offshore teams.
A further 43 jobs are being added within the property claims and finance operations teams in Whiteley.
The job cuts follow a decision by Zurich to offer motor and home insurance on aggregators through its subsidiary Endsleigh under the Zurich brand, but with Endsleigh carrying out sales, servicing and premium collections.
Zurich personal lines director Karl Bedlow says: “We do recognise that these changes mean difficult messages for some of our employees, and we are committed to minimising the impact on people by reducing job numbers through redeployment, natural turnover and voluntary measures wherever possible.”
The latest announcement follows the 120 job cuts announced by Zurich in January from its UK life sales and marketing division. Zurich also announced in January plans to reduce its branch network from 14 offices to nine. Offices in Edinburgh, Cambridge, Nottingham and Reigate are set to close, and one of two London offices may also close.
Friends Life announced earlier this week it is to close its Basingstoke office and consolidate its offices in Manchester by the end of 2012. A decision on the number of job losses will be taken in August.

LOL, That's what they all say: the truth is as long as they keep making profits lining their own greedy pockets they don't give a damn about any of their loyal employees. They restructure only to suit themselves.
