Unum enhances group IP proposition

Unum is enhancing its group income protection proposition to include an associated business cost cover option.

The addition, available from June, means costs associated with absenteeism due to illness or injury can be covered under one policy, including employer pension and National Insurance contributions, holiday pay cover and premiums for other benefits.

From today, Unum is also removing any time limits for the duration of secondments and for linked claims, benefits will restart at the previous amount and will be reviewed to take account of any increases from the date the absence starts again.

Unum limited term policies will now allow multiple claims as long as the employee completes a successful return to work in between claims, and cover for members temporarily absent for reasons other than ill health is now automatic for a period of three years.

Unum head of commercial marketing Wojciech Dochan says: “Our intention is to make it easier than ever to do business with Unum by improving, clarifying and where possible simplifying our terms. We feel that it is our responsibility to continually strive to improve our products and set a benchmark for quality in the market.”
