Swiss Re UK managing director quits

Swiss Re managing director of life and health UK Craig Thornton is leaving the reinsurer to join a client firm.
Thornton, who joined Swiss Re in 2002 as risk manager for life and health, resigned from the firm last week. He is expected to depart in the next few weeks for a client firm.
Swiss Re head of South Africa operations Bruce Hodkinson will act as head of the business until a replacement is found.
A Swiss Re spokesman says: “For an ad interim period Bruce is going to be looking after both businesses. He will travel to London periodically and spend half of his time in London and half of his time in South Africa. As regards to a permanent feature, we are going be reviewing that position and decide on the longer-term outlook in due course.”
