Skandia pays 92% of CI claims

Skandia has paid 92 per cent of all critical illness claims during the first seven months of the year.

Those claims not paid were due to the illness definition not being met.

Skandia head of protection marketing Ian Brown says the high paid claims rate is down to Skandia’s helpline, online support and medical disclosure form.

He says: “As a provider of critical illness cover, we need to make the claims process as straightforward as possible and minimise the chance of the claim being denied.

“As a result of the quality of our underwriting, we have had no claims denied this year due to non-disclosure.”

Skandia has also paid 100 per cent of Protect life cover claims from January until July.
