PruProtect boosts its criticalillness cover
PruProtect has improved its critical-illness cover by offering premium reductions where a cancer exclusion is applied.
The provider’s severity-based serious-illness cover now includes eight additional conditions and 17 ABI+ definitions. Definitions have also been enhanced for existing conditions such as heart attack. New and existing definitions will be applied to existing policies, with no change made to premiums.
Premium reductions for cancer exclusions will be applied to existing policyholders from October 23. PruProtect actuarial and product director Deepak Jobanputra says: “We are covering conditions that impact people’s lives.”
He says that PruProtect added lumpectomy to its list of covered conditions, because while more providers are beginning to cover mastectomy, this is not how most breast cancer diagnoses are treated.
Other conditions to be added inc-lude carcinoma in situ of the oesophagus, severe inflammatory Crohns disease, encephalitis, craniotomy, Guillain-Barré; syndrome, spinal tumours and the skin disease pemphigus vulgaris.
